How to view Companies House updates on my customers

Available with a ledger connected in Free Trial, Free Plan, Full Subscription or Add-ons Check-it or Chase-it

Know-it will monitor the customers in your ledger and alert you of any change. There are different types of monitoring in the platform: Gazette Notices monitoring, Companies House updates monitoring, Unsecured creditors monitoring and CreditSafe monitoring.

1. What is the Companies House?

Companies House is an executive agency which is part of the Department for Business and Trade.  The main purpose of Companies House is to incorporate and dissolve limited companies, examine and store company information as well as make information available to the public. 

They prioritise making the register as complete and accurate as possible and provide high-quality company registration and search.

2. How can Know-it monitor Companies House updates? 

Know-it will use the existing data in your accountancy software to monitor your customers. To do so the platform will use: 

• The company name
• The company registration number or postcode

This allows the platform to match the company against a Companies House record. View here how to view and fix missing data in your ledger which could prevent you from monitoring your customers.

3. Where to view Companies House updates

3.1. Via the Dashboard

When you log in, the Dashboard will give you an overview of what has happened in your ledger in a selected time frame

You can change this time frame by choosing different dates in the top-right-hand corner

• Click on 'View info' below Companies House update
• View the update directly on the platform
  

3.2. Via the Companies House overview

• Go to Check-it > Companies House 
• View all updates directly on the platform, or search for a specific company
  

3.3. Via the Company overview

• Go to My Companies
• Search for the company you'd like to view
• Click on the 'Companies House' tab
• View updates directly on the platform
